Sri Lankan airline Mihin Lanka flies again

State owned Sri Lankan airline Mihin Lanka has recommenced it’s flying programme with flights from Colombo to Dubai six days per week (Mon to Friday and Sunday). The once bankrupt airline received huge a government cash injection and services have already started using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft which arrived in Sri Lanka last week where it had been in service for appx 6 months. In traditional no frill style the aircraft has a single class configuration and can accommodate 186 passengers.srilankan airline
Additional routes are expected to begin with flights from Colombo to South Indian cities Trichi and Trivandrum due to commence later this month and Bodh Gaya seeing the Mihin Lanka aircraft in February.
Mihin Lanla is a low cost airline but all flights currently allow all passengers a free baggage allowance on all flights including infants and is either 25k or 30k and 10k for infants. Unchecked hand luggage of up to 7kgs is also permitted.
Unlike most no frills airlines Mihin Lanka also allows customers to change their reservations, subject to am amendment fee and payment of any fares differences. Food/refreshments are also includes as appropriate to the time of flight and because of this passengers are not allowed to consume their own food or beverages in flight.


Flybe offers free job loss cover

The insurance is being offered to passengers who book flights, car hire and hotels in January, and are due to travel before 24 October.

It is available to anyone who has been in continuous work with the same employer for at least two years.

Flybe said it was responding to people’s continuing economic pressures.

“These are unprecedented times and Flybe wants to do our bit to keep the economy moving,” said Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer at Flybe.

“Consumers can book with us in January secure in the knowledge that if they lose their job before they travel, Flybe will give them a full refund.”

Based in Exeter, Flybe operates flights from 11 UK airports, and also flies from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

It flies more than 150 routes and carried seven million passengers in 2007.
