Low fares airline Jet2.com is launching a competition offering 20,000 free return flights.
The airline, which has its headquarters at Leeds Bradford airport, will give away the free flights to the first people to correctly name all 45 of its destinations after the competition starts at 12 noon on January 30th.
“What a fantastic way to start the year – we are bringing some sunshine cheer to the region with free return flights to one of our spectacular European destinations,” says Jet2.com boss, Philip Meeson.
“This is truly our biggest ever free competition and, with 20,000 free flights worth more than £2,000,000, we believe it’s the biggest ever free competition giveaway in the region’s history,” Meeson continues.
“January can often be a gloomy month but with this competition we are hoping to bring smiles to the faces of people across the region. With an array of fantastic destinations to choose from, our winners could be sipping cocktails on a sun-drenched beach or taking in some culture on a fun-packed city break before they know it!,” he adds.
The free return flights include all taxes and charges and can be chosen to any of Jet2.com’s 45 destinations. The airline flies from six airports in the UK: Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool, Edinburgh and Belfast International.
Last year when the airline announced a similar competition more than 100,000 people logged on within 20 minutes, so this year extra server capacity has been introduced to ensure everyone has the chance to win.
Jet2.com has also announced that it will continue flights to three of its most popular destinations next winter. “Due to overwhelming customer demand” flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Sharm el Sheikh will feature in the winter 2009/10 schedule and are on sale now.
Flights to Tenerife and Lanzarote from Blackpool, Leeds Bradford and Manchester airports start from £68.99 one way including all taxes. Flights to Sharm el Sheikh from Leeds Bradford airport are priced from £67.99 one way.

Singapore Airlines is increasing flights to the Gulf Arab region to tap growing demand despite the global downturn, its regional head said on Monday.
Earlier this month, the Straits Times newspaper quoted an airline circular
issued to travel agents as saying Singapore Airlines would reduce the numbers of flights to China, India, Australia, London and Zurich in response to falling passenger numbers.
Meow-Seng Lim, the airline’s Gulf general manager, said the flag carrier expected to boost its passenger load factor due to a surge in tourism to and from the Gulf because of lower fuel costs.
The airline is launching flights to Kuwait in March and is increasing its weekly flights to Abu Dhabi to seven from three, he said. The airline operates 21 flights to Dubai per week.
“With the expansion, we will be operating 38 flights a week to the Gulf, of which 28 are to the United Arab Emirates alone. We are seeing growth in demand due to the growing trade links between the Gulf countries and the Far East,” Lim told reporters.

Irish air carrier Ryanair says it intends to suspend 12 connections to Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin and Wrocław from March.
Ryanair spokesman Daniel de Carvalho told the Polish Press Agency that
flights from Gdańsk to Bristol and Liverpool Katowice to Bristol; Łódź to Liverpool, Shannoni, East Midlands; Poznań to East Midlands; Szczecin to Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool and Luton; and Wrocław to Bournemouth were being cancelled.
‘These connections will not be available in the summer due to an increase in Polish navigational fairs introduced in 2008. Ryanair is unable to accept these costs and continue to offer the lowest prices’ Daniel de Carvalho said.
Ryanair’s spokesman added that ‘the consequences of the decision of the Polish Air Navigation Agency will lead to a fall in the number of passengers carried from and to Poland by a half of million this year and will lead to a loss of 500 jobs and EUR 55 million for Polish economy’, TV Biznes reports.

At present, TACA flies between the two cities via San José, Costa Rica. The route was inaugurated in April 2007 with three flights a week, but the company is now currently flying daily on that route.
Executives at TACA’s Havana office pointed out that South America will benefit from direct flights between Lima and Havana, as travelers will arrive in Cuba at an appropriate time, according to their needs.
All passengers from Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, as well as Peru, will enjoy the advantages of that route, which will also contribute to boosting tourism in the region.
